Happy Halloween!

The sweetest little ladybug ever! (Thank you to Auntie Kristie for the headband support.)

We started off the day with a playgroup Halloween party:

Last year Josh was an airline pilot and this year decided to go as a fighter pilot.

Then Andrew's school had a costume parade. Here he is as Superman waiting with classmate Julee. Later Andrew dressed as Batman for trick-or-treating on base.

We let the boys trick-or-treat on floors 1-4 of one high rise tower. That took 35 minutes.

Then it was home and time for bed. Andrew ate 11 pieces of candy, Joshie 6 and Mommy 3 and Daddy 1 bowl of ice cream.

Our Apartment

Welcome to Sabra Vill Apartments!

As far as we can tell, we have one of the nicest apartments around here. It is about 1650 square feet and is very modern. We are one of the only families we know with a dishwasher! Woo hoo!

This is the outside of our building. We are in our own little alley off the main street.

Parking is along the brick wall to right of this picture.

The door locks here are really different. We have a magnetized key and a key code to enter the front door:

When you open our front door, this is what you see:

It is a small vestibule with a wall of closets, the perfect place to take off your shoes. Remember, no one wears shoes inside homes or some resturants here.

The closets in the entryway

Here is the living room:

Most apartments here have a similar set up with this long and low unit across one wall. Everyone seems to put the TV there. As you can see, we use ours for the TV and for clutter. The tall thing to the left is the air conditioner.

The main walls in our living room are covered with this 3 dimensional stone. It looks like it should be a fountain with water running over it:

I took most of these pictures before we got our stuff at the beginning of September, so everything you see here either came with the apartment or we bought, mailed or carried with us on the plane. The rooms aren't so stark now that we have some of our own stuff.

Here are some more pictures:

BIG News!

Ainsley has made the school's list for ACSC (Air Command and Staff College) next year. What this means: we'll be moving to Montgomery, Alabama in July! We're really excited :)

In other, not so great news, Andrew has learned his first bad word, compliments of his friend on the bus. It starts with an "a" and sounds like "apple" when yelled across the playground. Kind of ironic that he learns his first cuss word from a Korean kid....

Sitting alone at 7 months

Last weekend I noticed that Madeline wasn't needing so much support while sitting up and this weekend I confirmed that she does, in fact, sit unassisted! Hooray!

Here is a picture of a headband we will be modifying for Halloween. I had to see if it fit (it does) but it looks so funny on I had to take a picture:

At a follow up appointment today, Maddie weighed 14 lbs 11 oz, nearly one pound gained in a month! Last month she was diagnosed with reflux and has been put on Zantac. It seems to be helping. Her feedings have improved 100% and she now seems interested in solids and is sleeping better.

Check out the princess bib, on the tag it said, "Perfect for any meal-time adventure!" Too funny!

Happy Birthday to me!

Look! A picture of me! How did that happen?

Today was my birthday! I started off by sleeping in, Ainsley then made homemade french toast for breakfast and I then proceeded to spend the next few hours on the phone with all my fans ;)

Before we finally ventured out to enjoy the beautiful weather, we were sidetracked. Ainsley had planned on making my favorite carrot cake today, but when he went to double check the recipe, we couldn't find it! We spent a good 45 minutes tearing the house apart looking for that thing and never found it! So, alas, we had to go with a different recipe, sigh.

Went to the park, had Chili's for dinner (yes, there is a Chili's here on base, it's bizarre) and then home for cake and presents.

As we were putting the boys to bed, guess what we found on Joshie's pillow? The recipe for the carrot cake! What it was doing there, we'll never know but at least we found it!

My good friend Amy celebrated my birthday, too, by giving birth to a baby boy! What a lucky kid, he has the coolest birthday ever!
