Birthday Highlights

Andrew had a great birthday. Before school, he got to open one present: a Transformer (Brawl) from Mommy and Daddy. Daddy met Andrew at the cafeteria for lunch. Daddy said he couldn't get a word in edgewise with all the kids talking to him. Later, Mommy, Joshie and Madeline went to Andrew's class with cupcakes. Then we got to do the Daily News with his class before leaving early. At home, we waited for Daddy to open presents. And THEN, we went to Chili's for dinner. Back home for some cake and playtime before falling into bed. At 3 am, guess what? The boys were both awake! This is a disturbing trend. (Even more disturbing is that Daddy NEVER hears them....) Andrew was up and desperately looking for his new Transformers watch. No need, Buddy, I can tell you what time it is: TIME FOR BED!!!!!

Madeline Pulls Up

Madeline has been trying for the past month to pull herself up to a stand. Here I am, uploading pictures of Andrew's birthday and I look over and there she is, standing at the TV, so proud of herself!

Happy 6th Birthday, Andrew!

Today Andrew turns six! Are we old enough to have a six year old? (Well, Ainsley is at least).

Check back in tomorrow for pictures of his big day.

**NEWS FLASH**

Joshie can read! I can't believe I forgot to post this! I usually save some of Andrew's easier school projects for Josh since he doesn't really have "preschool" here. Well, last week was an activity about the letter "p" and Josh read "pig," "pen," "pin," " pot," and "pan" all by himself. He sounded out all the words all on his own and actually came up with the right answer. I am so excited I haven't ruined his brain! Gotta go find that link to Harvard's early admissions....

6 degrees

No, not six degrees of separation but six degrees of we're freezing our butts off! This morning my computer said it was six degrees outside as we left for the bus stop. What??? Doesn't anyone understand: we are from Florida, People! That's like -20 degrees to us. Heck we didn't even OWN winter coats before we got here. I dressed us all in like 10 layers. Thankfully, the bus was warm and waiting for Andrew so we just plopped him on the bus and raced home for some delicious hot chocolate!

In other news, I awoke this morning to find the boys playing in the living room. This is a normal occurrence, what is not normal is that it was 3 AM!!!! So I get up and scoot them into bed telling them repeatedly it's the middle of the night. *yawn* We are a wee bit tired this morning.

Madeline - 10 months old

In the past month, Madeline has started crawling on her hands and knees instead of just swimming. She now has her first two teeth and learned how to roll a ball back and forth with someone (compliments of Uncle Justin.) She has also become a lot more curious. She wants to get into everything. This has led to more babyproofing and her first owies: a busted top lip after falling forward twice in two days. She has the curiosity of Andrew and the coordination of Joshua. It is turning out to be an interesting combination! She has also learned how to drink from a cup and to say "uh oh" which she sometimes says "uh uh oh." We love hearing the little "pat pat pat pat" she makes as she crawls along the hardwood floors.

Happy 2008!

Anyone else have a holiday hangover? Visitors are all gone. Grown ups going back to work, kids going back to school. Time to put the decorations away.

Ho hum. Back in the saddle again. To keep things interesting, today we took the kids to get our second round of vaccinations for life in the ROK and at one point all three of them are screaming. Andrew's crying because he's just had the shot. Joshua is crying because he doesn't want to get a shot and Madeline's crying because everyone else is crying. Josh then makes a break for it and is running through the clinic screaming. It was a gem of an afternoon.
